1st Grade: Green Schools Quest

This year, students enhanced a natural space that other 1st graders began working on last year, making it even more inviting for birds, pollinators, and those looking for a peaceful place to relax. They replaced their original recycled-material bird feeders, which had started to fall apart, with sturdy wooden ones built to last. To further improve the area, they also constructed benches and placed them in two key spots—the bird restoration zone and the pollinator garden—creating comfortable spaces to sit, reflect, and observe nature.

The pollinator garden, planted in November 2024, is now beginning to sprout, with wildflower pollinators emerging. A bird camera installed in the bird restoration area has captured almost all of the Missouri backyard birds on our list!

If you need a space to calm down, meditate, or just enjoy the sounds of the birds, please come visit this space!
